Treatment guide

Nanoplasty vs Keratin

Two famous frizz-fighters, one big difference in chemistry. Here's what actually sets them apart and how to pick the right one for your hair.

The short answer

Both treatments calm frizz, add shine and make hair feel softer. The biggest difference is what's inside the bottle. Traditional keratin and Brazilian Blowout formulas often rely on formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing ingredients to lock in the smoothing effect. Premium Nanoplasty achieves a similar finish with a formaldehyde-free amino acid and protein complex — gentler on hair, gentler on you.

If your priority is healthier, safer chemistry with a naturally smooth result, Nanoplasty is the modern upgrade. If you want a pin-straight finish and don't mind harsher ingredients, a traditional keratin can deliver that look.

What is Nanoplasty?

Nanoplasty is a modern hair smoothing treatment that uses nano-sized amino acids and proteins to penetrate the hair shaft. Because the molecules are so small, they reach deep into damaged areas, restructure the cuticle and seal in shine — without formaldehyde or harsh straightening chemicals. The result is smoother, softer, more manageable hair that still looks like you.

What is a keratin treatment?

Keratin treatments (including the original Brazilian Blowout) coat the hair in liquid keratin, then use heat to seal it. The classic versions use formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing ingredients to lock the protein in place — which is what produces the strong fumes and the very straight finish. Newer "formaldehyde-free" keratin formulas exist, but the results are often less long-lasting than traditional versions.

Which one should you book?

Pick Nanoplasty if…

  • • You want a formaldehyde-free, gentler formula
  • • You love your natural texture and just want less frizz
  • • Your hair is coloured, fine, or chemically processed
  • • You're sensitive to strong salon fumes
  • • You want shinier hair that's easier to blow-dry

Pick a keratin treatment if…

  • • You specifically want a pin-straight finish
  • • Your hair is extremely coarse and resistant
  • • You don't mind harsher chemistry for the result

What to expect at That Nano Chic

Nanoplasty appointments run between 2.5 and 4 hours depending on length and density. You'll leave with hair that's noticeably smoother, glossier and easier to manage — and a simple aftercare routine to make it last. Most clients re-book every 3–5 months.
